Modern-Day Miracle

A child needs a family.

Some one, some organization places that child in a family somewhere, somehow... sometimes right across town, sometimes across the world.

The child arrives and there are some tears shed, some hard times, some rough patches.
But bonding occurs.

It is real.  It is a forever kind of love.  It is a miracle.

Did you know - I just heard:
If just 1 out of every 7 professing Christian around the world adopted just 1 orphan, there would be no more orphans in the world?

There are roughly 150 million orphans so that would truly be nothing short of a miracle.

But the God I know, the God of the Bible, the God of revolutions led, peoples freed, women given equality, wars ended, vaccines against pandemics, cancers cured, universities founded, octuplets born alive, a marriage back from the brink, slates wiped clean, lives started over, a drug addict turned substance abuse counselor, a former racist turned missionary, a CEO deciding to give it all away, a former Muslim turned Christian pastor.

That God - He is in the business of miracles.

Seeing Beauty In Those Who Are Different

Inspiring TED talk that really challenges my view of what is beautiful.  Liam really challenges this for me, too.  As his Mom, I hope I raise him to believe he is beautiful inside and out, valuable no matter what.  He is fearfully and wonderfully made.

Lord, help me see him through your eyes.

Brotherly Love

I don't know if this is a standard question or if it is because Liam is adopted.  But the first question most people ask me about the boys is this: "how do they get along?"  Sure, they beat up on each other plenty, as all brothers do.  But here are some pictures to show you what's under their macho exteriors...
It's in their smiles & laughter.
It's in their touches & cuddles.
It's in their caring & sharing.
Love is written here.

Liam In His "Ride" (and a video!)

Lookin' like Mr. T with my new 'do.
Big pimpin' in my ride.
You know you can't resist this million dollar smile.
